Montgomery Reef is located in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia. It is Australia's largest inshore reef at more than 400 km². The reef is subject to unusual tidal movements. When the tide is out vast lagoons, sandstone islets and a central mangrove island are revealed. The outward movement of the tide forms a loud torrent of water.
